What is a ham radio repeater?
Repeaters are systems that allow you to extend the effective range of your radio by using height to its advantage. Repeaters are usually mounted in high locations like hills, atop tall city buildings, or on radio towers. They listen for your signal on an ‘input’ frequency and simultaneously re-broadcast it on an ‘output’ frequency. This means your handheld transceiver (HT) radio can talk to other users up to 50-100 miles away depending on local circumstances.
