What is a ham radio net?
The term ‘Net’ is often unfamiliar for newly license ham radio operators. Nets are regularly scheduled on-the-air meetings of hams who have common interests. They can be informal and act as a way to connect and hear from hams in your local area. Sometimes they are more functional as a way to pass traffic from the National Traffic System, report severe weather, or provide communications during a community event. Nets are a great way to get your callsign out there and let others in your area know you’re a newly licensed ham radio operator.
